ABOUT
My name is Laura Bendfeldt, I was raised in a small town near Hamburg, Germany. Since I was born, my family and I travelled around the world, which increased my interests in other cultures. This influenced my decision to concentrate my studies on International Business.

An opportunity opened up when I received the offer to join the Women`s Varsity swim-team at LIU Post on an athletic scholarship. Swimming on a team with more than 8 nationalities and studying in the US showed me once more that I like exploring new cultures and learning about them. Getting to know a few dutch people, exchange our experiences from our countries and visiting them, I fell in love with the country and realized I want to move there.

In the past 2 years I could gain experience in the field of Key - Account Management in the internationally active trade industry, logistics, Im-/Export to and from Asia.
After shadowing a strategic procurement manager for a little bit, my curiosity for this field started. After researching more about it, I know that this is where my career will be headed.

CLASSES & ASSIGNMENTS
FINANCE
Through these classes I gained an awareness of global issues in finance. I learned how it is possible for multinational cooperations to profit from exchange rates and how to manage Transaction Exposure, Economic Exposure and Translation Exposure.

NEGOTIATION
This course explored the major concepts and theories of the psychology of bargaining and negotiation, as well as the dynamics of interpersonal and intergroup conflict and resolution.
CONSUMER MOTIVATION & BEHAVIOR
This course helped me understand decision-making processes that consumers undertake when they identify the needs of, search for, evaluate, purchase, use, and dispose of products or services. It introduced how individual differences based on social, cultural, economic, personal, and psychological factors affect cognitive and emotional processes. By understanding these processes I cultivated marketing managerial skills to develop more effective marketing plans, such as to promote brands and licensed properties.
